Professional background
1998 – dato Head of Department for Urban Water Management, Water Supply and Industrial Water Management at ISAH, Leibniz University Hannover 1990 – 1998 Research Associate at the Institute for Urban Water Management and Waste Technology at Leibniz University in Hanover 2000 PhD "Key figure formation and calculation of charges in urban water management on the basis of a systematic breakdown of costs" 1990 Degree in civil engineering, specialization in water management, partial study in chemistry
Areas of activity:
- Process for the biological treatment of industrial and municipal wastewater (nitrogen elimination / deammonification, phosphorus elimination and recovery, residual COD / trace substances, biofilm, anaerobic and microfiltration processes).
- Process of recycling and wastewater management in industrial application (balance and forecast modeling, PIUS) taking into account sustainability (water saving, generation of renewable energy and CO2 minimization).
- Optimization and conception of municipal sewage treatment plants taking into account innovative processes, economic efficiency and management (fees / benchmarking / controlling).
- Dimensioning, process and observer models as well as dynamic online simulations, among other things for the development of operationally supporting adaptive control strategies.
- Integrative consideration and modeling of sewer networks and sewage treatment plants with regard to the management of wastewater and rainwater.
- Cross-media evaluation of processes in environmental protection (e.g. LCA, BREF) with the current focus on the quantification of process-induced greenhouse gas emissions (N2O and CH4).
- Responsibility for the research field "wastewater".
